This has not been fixed with the 1:6.10+20060924 release (which
according to the date should contain the fix), and now I wonder if that
is correct. But generating the .mo file from the de.po file downloaded
with apt-get source xchat-gnome works correctly.

make a screenshot of that? (gdmflexiserver --xnest or some terminal
screenshot package can help you with that).

every time i login with dapper it opens gnome-terminal.
i have of course tried logging out without any apps open so this could be the
remembered state but to no avail. always gnome-terminal pops up.
