incorrectly starts decoding as 'JIS X 0201-1976 (Roman set)' instead
of as ASCII. The specification (RFC 1468) says that text starts in
ASCII, and only switches to Japanese

I can confirm this too, on two laptops and one desktop machine, where
i'm attempting to connect via service-discovery-applet to an in-house
site on a ubuntu edgy, it used to work but now i get the error message
described above.
Now, in my case this isn't that much of a showstopper, since it's
Ubuntu 7.04:
I also got the Couldn't find an x overlay error before installing
gstreamer0.10-x. Now rhythmbox works fine.
I installed my 7.04 using the Synaptic Update Manager and clicking
Upgrade.

with an external USB drive (Hitachi Travelstar in a Sarotech Cutie
case). Unmount from the right-click menu was working in Edgy, of course

I don't want to spend 10 minutes looking through bug only to find the
duplicate number, there is

example and I'm pretty sure we got some bug on launchpad, which might
have been closed as an user error triggering a dnd though
Could you reply to the question? Do you use the desktop effects option
or not? Do you consider the bug fixed?
