Running Ubuntu 7.10, gedit 2.20.3.
I use cifs mounts to all our business network resources and the problem occurs
on all files I've tried throughout the LAN.

Move all your mails from the inbox to another folder. Then close
Evolution. Goto ~/.evolution/mail/local/ and remove all files beginning
with Inbox (in my case there were six files). Now you can start
Evolution again and move the mails back to the inbox. The bug

An amd64 retrace is not needed. I have already fixed the bug locally
(and Emmet is also running my patch) and sent a patch upstream. The main
issue is fixing it in Ubuntu at this point, as this bug is unacceptable
