Sebastian we've already tried both of those methods, they don't work
because the keyring only seems to fail when gdm is using it. Neither
backtracing or using valgrind produces the segfault when running from
terminal. Is there a different method I can try to help?

Actually, running firefox-3.0 at the command line revealed that totem
was handling the stream and failing dismally. Removing totem and helix
player and making sure that mplayer was installed fixed it for me. This
is not a bug in FF3, it is in totem or its codecs.
Diagnosis: totem is broken.
I confirm this bug un Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.
For those who can't mount any drive i suggest editing with gconf the key
/system/storage/volumes/_org_freedesktop_Hal_devices_voume_uuid_*/mount_point

When I plug in my external, luks encrypted disk, Ubuntu asks for the
passphrase and succesfully opens the Luks partition, however, it does
not seem to recognise that inside is an LVM volume which should also be
opened. I.e. one must

SYStem monitor shows active program as
I work for a web design / development company and having my FTP
connections all vanish was and is an incredibly annoying behaviour.

Having same issues. Upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 LTS. Autodetect was
selected. No sounds would play. Changed to ALSA and sounds play. If
using any sound device other than ALSA, get the following error:
audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample !
gconfaudiosink
rm $XDG_DATA_HOME/Trash/*
normally $XDG_DATA_HOME is ~/.local/share/, so
rm ~/.local/share/Trash/* is the equivalent command.
