I wanted to add another me too since I'm having this issue, too,
periodically (but often). I installed Ubuntu Hardy as a new install
soon after the release on a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop with an regular US
keyboard. The only keyboard setting I've changed is to set Make
CapsLock an additional
I've found the same problem on Hardy. So I don't think it is kernel related at
all.
If I disable compiz I get the correct password request dialog. With compiz
enabled I get a white screen.

I just had similar problem. My town (Latvia - Ventspils) isn't included

You have two errors in your step 3 (you must use hal-set-property, not
hal-set-priority; also, you need to use the UUID string, not the
info.udi string), so here are the corrected steps to follow:

I had the same problem with 8.04 upgrade from 7.10 on 4/30/08. I tried
to fix it, the system became unusable and I eventually restored the
partition to 7.10 and tried again on 5/2/08, this time accepting the new
version of the few configuration changes I had made. I still have the

MS Exchange (2003) server. Even after messages are deleted and the trash
is expunged the messages are still on the Exchange server (and

I have some information to better reproduce this problem:
If I do in Brasero:
1) Open Edit - Plugins
2) Uncheck only *some* plugins
3) close dialog
4) open it again (Edit - Plugins)
there would be correctly checked items exactly as I have set them,
but if I do:
1) Open Edit - Plugins
I'd like to close this bug report since there seem to be several if not
many different issues here, some of which are now solved or will not
appear on standard installations. If specific bugs persist, opening new

In Hardy bogofilter is the default plugin and the package is installed.
So this bug only affects users that change to spamassassin *and*
override the warning telling them that the spamassassin binaries are not
installed.
Should the bug be closed consequently?
