I create a new message and then click on icon to add attachments, then
the add attachment box opens, then I click on left site to my network
directory place, choose the file in the file list and press add.
After that the it looks like the attachment is on but then the error
message pops up.
if I do it like that from desktop then it works without any
problem...also I can open the document I want to attached without any
problems when browsing in filebrowser Natilus

But not with
Totem
Neither with:
Amarok or VLC
What am I missing? I use to play with Totem on Ubuntu 7.10 without any problem.

After completely reinstalling, then opening and closing System/Login Window
without success, I finally followed those instructions you discovered. Now my
Hardy for AMD 64 shuts down cleanly and fast at least.
