Same here, running 9.04.
After muting PCM from gnome-volume-control, unmuting it does not
actually unmutes it. However, if you move the PCM volume slider after
unmuting it, the sound comes back.
The problem seems to be that unmuting the PCM channel does not restore
its volume (alsamixer shows
(1) i'm using jaunty, not a stable release.
(2) using ubuntu, but the crash does not produce a crash report in /var/crash

I must admit that I'm not very pleased with this bug being marked as
invalid. I know that the menu item needs an extra package before it
will work; it was me that identified the issue. However, as others have

I started poking around pm-suspend.log on my system and pulseaudio was
not the cause of the problem. There was, however, a script left over
from when I ran madwifi drivers that was causing a problem. Removing
the script fixed suspend for me.

I completely missed that you were using xfce. I apologize. I checked the
default settings for gnome and it does not have those presets. (I have included
a picture)
The command should be totem /media/cdrom0 unless you have multiple drives.
Also, the command totem /dev/dvd will work.

It's not correct to word m4a, mp3 and ogg formats as 'CD Quality' ...
it's oxymoronic to say cd quality, lossy.
'CD quality' is uncompressed audio, like WAV or flac formats. Mp3, m4a
etc are sub-CD quality with much less audio information.
