Somebody just sent me a PPSX file and I ran into the same issue (using
Jaunty up-to-date as of today).
According to Wikipedia[1] PPSX is a Microsoft Office 2007 XML Show
document. Ubuntu recognizes it as a ZIP file. If I change the extension
to PPTX, it's associated with OpenOffice.org

For any GTK2 and Gnome Application: If I try to open a file (that is the
GTK2-File-Selector should appear), it takes about 25-30 seconds until
the file-dialogue really opens. Top says that the CPU usage is

Update.
After latest update first errors are gone, still appear:
** Message: no file info
** Message: Error: Disconnected: Connessione terminata
pulsesink.c(451): gst_pulsesink_is_dead ():
Those are two different issues, this report is about the pdftotext
crashing with that particular pdf (which i cannot reproduce btw), the
other part pdftotext not returning readable txt file is another bug,
please open a new one about it.

pdftotext crashed with signal 24 in Lexer::lookChar()
You don't need to have *just* created User B for this bug to show up,
any old pair of users on the system that can log into GNOME will trigger
it. I tested this on both a fresh Jaunty install (laptop) and a Hardy
upgrade (desktop), by the way.

When I try to change the brightness using hotkeys brightness jumps to a random
value. Setting it through /proc/acpi or with xrandr works as expected. Relevant

I just checked, it behaves still the same. (blindly typing password
ENTER Alt-F2 xrandr --auto ENTER bswitches back to the builtin LCD
panel, but not automatically)
