OK, I checked the code in dkp_client_enumerate_devices_private() which
throws that timeout, and it tries this D-Bus call:
$ dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.DeviceKit.Power

I don't think it's a D-Bus ACL problem, the default policy is alright. I
suspect that doing that call might crash devkit-power-daemon. If that

I assume my problem is identical. However, when I try to report it I get

Besides my desktop, I can reproduce this with my latop on a 2 day-old
installation of karmic.
steps are fairly easy to reproduce.
1 Get a mkv(matroska container) file with embedded mp3 audio
2 play it

Thanks for the ssh access. I confirmed that dk-p doesn't crash, but just
suffers from a lot of delays from system calls due to problems with the
webcam:

This isn't a bug though. As already pointed out, there are lots of
desktop components that currently (correctly) depend on evolution-data-
server as they use features of it. If you want to remove e-d-s, then you
will also have to remove those components that depend on it too.
