Interesting. That crash occurred before I opened update-manager to apply
the available upgrades. Once update-manager was started, it was allowed
to work to completion (and all upgrades on these machines are manually
initiated).
Difficult to reproduce, at any rate.

Ah, right. gnome-keybinding-properties actually allows applications to
register WM-specific keybinding schema's, but that is not currently
functioning correctly (it always displays the metacity settings). That
is actually fixed upstream already

For the menus, the package is gnome-panel and the desktop is nautilus.
From the bug report that Damjan linked it seems that the issue is with
the desktop, not the menus.
Damjan, from the link it seems that you were able to work everything
out. Does that mean that the issue was not with Nautilus?

better if we changed the affected package to either DHCP or Network
Manager (or both). It doesn't seem that the Nautilus package would be

For the people that want gtk1.2, your best bet is to work together to
maintain it in a PPA. It was quite deliberately removed from Debian and
Ubuntu because it's no longer supportable. The last gtk1.2 was a very
long time ago. Certainly no more recently than 2002:
