I understand if you want to forget about this bug, but I urge you to set
your panel to unexpanded mode and auto-hide and then restart your computer *A
FEW TIMES and see if you can recreate this bug. This bug has occurred on all
my computers since I have installed Ubuntu on them. I'm sure
I talked with upstream. They don't want to remove this behavior until
they have a way to selectively open chat windows (ubuntu has this).

image in the Background tab of the Profile options (without any image
