This feels like a defacto standard since youtube started using it on

files don't show up correctly when hovering over tracks with mouse (seemingly
the pauses inserted during hovering, but not displayed otherwise).
When Select All and Insert pause - program crashes (repeatedly)

This is a follow-up to bug 407300, which has been fixed but a separate
issue remains. I'm opening a separate task for language-selector, as it
refers to the interaction between it and gdm.
The problem is basically that GDM seems to always override

developers failed (it does not generate an useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system

GDM and language-selector should agree on setting the LANG variable
Pyramid Technologies, You don't want to use Windows? The only reason
that you want buttons right was your Windows machine @ work. So you can
count on another alternative, simply revert the order of buttons on your
Windows machine to left and the problem is solved.
