apt-get remove gnome-settings-daemon, not sure why that component is
installed in an xfce environment? I guess this is not a solution for you

As Marc suggested if you turn off the visual effects the issue does go away.
System - Preferences - Appearance - Visual Effects - set to none
I experienced the issue while compiz was on, turning compiz off fixed it, and
restarting compiz reintroduced it.
If you go to a terminal session (while

Other options are changed as expected, but Show where the block will land
does not seem to be saved when closing the options dialog.

Small update: I'm now able to run quadrapassel on Maverick. I'm not sure why,
as the gnome-games package does not seem to have been updated.
I also tried Natty, but got the same error as above. So this is still an issue
in Natty.
