@Simon, I have taken a deeper look at the pactl list you submitted in
comment #28 and just realized the problem is more complex than expected.
I thought the problem was related to not being able to select the right
combination of input and output, that the output was changed when you changed
Sorry for not being very clear in the first place. So just to recap, all
I'm after is selecting the right *output* profile which is a 4.0 one
in my case. I'm only using the card to output sound so I haven't look at
the input situation. Thanks for your help so far!

gnome-control-center (1:3.4.2-0ubuntu19) quantal; urgency=low
* debian/patches/clutter_init.patch:
- dropped, don't use clutter for quantal, it was added because
ubuntu-online-accounts
closing a leak does not always mean inserting a plug, sometimes it just
means lessening the leak to a trickle, one that you can afford to pay for.
In this case, a trickle will do for now.
