The bar missing goes in the bottom (there is no option in preferences).
Typically shows how many items (folders and files) are in the current
folder and how much disk space is left. It was there in 12.10 under the
View option in the menu
@Gustavo You probably need backports active in updates. Simplest
solution is to install Synaptic, start it up and go to the Updates tab
and select backports. Then refresh and then do the updates.
Mine Quantal is a 32bit, so if you are 64bit it might just be a matter
of waiting a day.

Same here with Nautilus 3.4.2.
nautilus uses 9,6 GB of RAM after running ubuntu for 14 hours.
I browsed some files, moved little text files and images (none of them are more

in my case it seems that variety is the problem. Everytime the desktop
background is changed nautilus increases his RAM usage by ca. 300 MB which
seems to be the default usage for one nautilus instance.
I used gnome-tweak-tool to disable the option, that nautilus manages my desktop
