When I work with images (generate, copy, move) and use nautilus gvfs-
metadata often hangs Nautilus, so that it is not displaying any files in
a window. Nautilus becomes fine when I kill gvfs-metadata. In my mind
this is one of the most unfortunate recent features of Ubuntu.

Thanks. I switched 'Keyboard Input Method System' from IBus to none, as
suggested in the askubuntu question above.
I did some research about it, and as I use English and Hungarian input sources,
I think that I don't need IBus at all. Should I worry about nasty side effects?

I am seeing this issue on a new install of Ubuntu 14.10 64-bit with
NVIDIA driver 331.89.
I get about 50% CPU on 8 cores just just editing a new (unsaved) text
document. If I give focus to another window the CPU drops and the mouse
correctly shows, and I can then go back to gedit and things are
I can not confirm, neither the use of the panel manager, even when
removing tlp the problem is solved. Much more there is, the
reboot/shutdown generally works sometimes several times in succession,
many times not again. So, it works only sporadically.
