As similarly reported in Bug #1615408 [1], the "Mode" menu for gnome-
calculator appears out of place below the application title bar, however
now it only manifests for me when the calculator is launched from the
keyboard shortcut.
I've seen some circumstances where the
I also experienced this issue in 16.10 (also with Intel graphics), as
noted in a comment on another bug[1]. But, for what it's worth, I don't
experience the issue anymore in 17.04.

I agree with comments #25 and #26. It's likely a red herring, but this
issue arose for me right after I installed the flatpak PPA and a pile of
mono/M$ stuff. I still figure that those actions are orthogonal, but
just in case everyone else recently installed similar stuff or a new PPA
or...

Hans' observation that this is not impacting all of his machines is
consistent with my experience of this issue. I have three Ubuntu
machines and this is only impacting one of them. It is driving me nuts
because the machine that is impacted is my main laptop. My server and my
