I can reproduce the issue by following these steps on my machine:
- ensure gnome-terminal is not running. Open a single gnome-terminal window.
- ssh to a router running Openwrt 12.09
- run the following commands on the router:

I use Ubuntu 17.04 64bit. I have this problem with my Canon 120IS. I do
not know how to "unmount" using nautilus as no icon appears to unmount.
A complete shutdown-restart did not see the camera until I had done this
several times. I tried several available usb ports. Funny, when I
initiate
issue still happening with 16.04 but in my case, it changes to French
from English US which is ridiculous since I don't have French installed
on any of my servers (this is sitting in a Virtual environment, only
server terminal mode. with nothing shared between physical and virtual

running `setupcon --force -k' as part of its installation that made the
input that would usually go to mutter go to the console instead.
console-setup has been fixed now not to call this, but if you have other
