Quirky preview behavior when autohide is on
I think gnome-terminal has other odd dependencies like it needs to
receive information about the login session and bus before it is willing
to display. For this reason I would recommend 'xterm' instead if you
need a working shell via ssh.

By adding some debugging output to mutter and gnome-shell I verified
that mutter emits the x11-display-opened signal before gnome-shell is
able to connect a handler for it, and the handler never runs.
(Possibly things would be different in the experimental autostart-
xwayland mode, but the whole

Gnome as standard DE for Ubuntu instead of Unity

Gnome is a big step backward for Ubuntu, there are several usability
flaws in the main user concept of Gnome in comparison with Unity.

Thanks Anders. I'm hoping this is fixed by the patches from
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/merge_requests/680 - if
you're able to build your own gnome-shell package, maybe you could try
those commits? Otherwise, we should get them in the distro shortly (this
week).

Hi Paul,
as an upstream developer, it is nice to see that there is finally some
coordinated activity in Launchpad regarding bugs of third-party
applications.
What isn't that nice is that most of what I see is rather swift bug
closing - it would likely be a lot more useful if the bug was moved to

I had this problem, too, but it suddenly started to work in the middle
