Any update on that? I've been encountering the issue on different
distros with X11 as well as Wayland for I don't remember how long. I'm
happy to provide any technical information to fix the issue.

Multi-monitor settings are lost when switching between single- and
extended-display modes using the keyboard (Super+P) or in gnome-control-center
Same problem here running Ubuntu 20.04.1.

I am using X.org.
The workaround mentioned by Xianglong Kong does not work :/ I am using
the Nextcloud client, too but it already is in the startup applications
list.
TopIcons Plus works for me.

I also found out that there has been a pull request in the package
