According to the upstream comment this is a bug in GTK4/X11 and not
Nautilus itself, which was addressed but not fully fixed in 4.7.2.
A subsequent fix has been proposed for upstream GTK4:

Deleting .cache/gstreamer-1.0 doesn't change anything. The bug you mention also
seems to be a different one because I get a video, it is just very choppy.
The upstream bug fix i shared also doesn't seem to help.

I encountered the same issue, but visible through open file handles in
Fedora. Every time the desktop background is changed with gsettings, a
filehandle is opened that is never closed. I filed a bug report with
