Just to reiterate: This is only going to help you if you have an HP DV-4
laptop. To build a patched kernel do:
[Install some packages (look at a tutorial)]
tar -xjf /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.31.tar.bz2
cd linux-source-2.6.31/
cp -vi /boot/config-`uname -r` .config
patch -p1
