i can confirm that there is again a problem with login in to icq. but this time it is only for ssl connections: disabling SSL in pidgin fixes it. either it's a temporary problem with the ssl icq servers, or this is a new bug and should be treated as such. -- Can't login to ICQ or AIM servers

this is still an annoying problem in lucid with gnome while running buggy/verbose software. the file needs to be truncated in realtime and should be disabled or put on a ramdisk for ssd users imho. this potentially breaks the users' hardware in the long run without anything being really broken
