Added link to Gramps bug ticket.
The Gramps application crashes in parts using gtk.Builder due to this issue.
How will this be resolved? Should applications update or will there be a patch
against gtk/pygtk so that applications start working again?
** Bug watch added: GRAMPS Bug Tracking System
Looking at

the change seems to be intentional, so Ubuntu should patch applications hit by
it in 10.04

Evolution freezes during sync
Upstream ATK bug http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=577098 is an
earlier version.
If the analysis there is correct, then ATK is unmaintained since 2005
when Sun worked on it, and future work is planned only for Gnome 3.0 (
http://live.gnome.org/Accessibility/BonoboDeprecation )
I suppose
I opened a bug against atk: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=587020
I hope that is the correct place to get attention

Nautilus is very slow in list mode with Assistive Technologies
This is present in the GTK app GRAMPS too on the treeviews, making the user
experience in GNOME _very_ bad.
Does somebody know if an app can opt out of ATK?
Is there an upstream bug?
As an application developer I can only say: turn ATK off as long as it does not
work. People with disabilities
Can this bug be linked to upstream:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419383
A workaround (??) for apps is given there, however, not very
satisfactory. Unattaching the model and reattaching after every little
change is not what the GTK API says.

python gtkspell is a gtk module.
However, it is distributed in python-gnome2-extras. Hence, GTK applications
that have spell checking depend on a lot of GNOME components without this
needing to be the case.
For example: GRAMPS is a gtk app with spell checking.
Because of the tests done with the help of the Gramps Developers.
The repo version, latest stable version and trunk versions of gramps have been
tested on hardy and intrepid.
The only people able to reproduce it are those running intrepid.
Again, what do you mean by small pygtk code example
Thank you for your reply.
Could you please explain how I should produce a simple test case ? There is
detail on the above link on how to reproduce the problem.
Are there any commands I can run in the terminal that will produce useful
output ?
Is there any output in the logs that would be of use
I have done a clean install of Ubuntu 8.04 and installed all updates.
Then installed Gramps 3.0.1-1 (from repositories), gramps_3.0.3-1_Ubuntu804.deb

Carried out all the tests that produced the original problem, but was not able
