wife got fed-up with it before I could try 11.04, and insisted on re-

Indeed, I have found the umask=022 option to be very useful on NTFS
filesystems in the past. Unfortunately, it's with my '/' partition,
which is ext4 that I'm noticing the problem. I haven't been able to
change any permissions on my NTFS partition using Nautilus,

I just upgraded from 9.10 (amd64) to 10.04, and then immediately from
10.04 to 10.10. I have this same problem:
When I go to
Places Home Folder right-click on Public Permissions tab
and try to change any of the File Access drop-downs, they all
immediately revert to ---. I have tried using
P.S. This nautilus permissions problem happens on my ext3
/media/PERSONAL and NTFS WinVista partitions as well.

Thanks for the continued interest in this bug. The computer that I'm
writing about is my wife's school laptop; as such, I can't reload a new
operating system on it during the semester (which ends in late
December). Do you think it would be sufficient/helpful for me to test

It seems in Hardy that it's not possible to drag the icon from Computer
to the Destkop. It gives me this error (in details of the error

I've just run into this bug in Feisty, with kernel 2.6.20-16-generic,
and all the latest updates, as of 7-25-07. Here is the error I get when
running nautilus-cd-burner in a terminal:

I just reinstalled nautilus-cd-burner using synaptic, and the bug
persists with the same error as above. Please let me know if you need

OK. I've installed Ubuntu 7.04 onto my laptop, and followed the above
reproduction instructions. The bug is still there. It's not as much of
an issue, since the floppy icon is now created on the desktop when media
is inserted, but still, I find it annoying that the custom-made icon
doesn't
I haven't yet tried Edgy or Feisty on my laptop, where this is a
problem. I intend to install Feisty when it's released, and will let

I am using Dapper Drake. I still have this problem, though it has
changed somewhat since I made this report. Now when I insert a floppy
into the USB drive, it will automount and open it, which is very nice.

I just installed the latest updates for Dapper. The problem seems to
have been fixed in all kernels. I suspect that it was a problem with
either pmount or HAL.
