Does the Gnome-System-Monitor identify a process thats using the CPU
excessively (in the processes tab of gnome-system-monitor click on the
CPU column header to sort the list by CPU usage) or is the issue with
the graph not accurately reporting the CPU usage?

You can get an idea of what was installed in earlier releases by going
to http://packages.ubuntu.com and searching for the gnome-games package.
The description and the dependancies list the games that are normally
installed with that version of ubuntu.
I suspect in your case the issue was that
I don't have the same selection of games installed on my install. Did
you perform a clean install or did you upgrade from ubuntu 9.10 or from
an alpha/beta release of ubuntu 10.04?
