I can confirm this. I am booted into a no-daemon setup right now.
Similar issues as Damiano details -- mounted drives don't appear, etc. I
think it is a pretty serious bug, since it gives a bad impression of
Ubuntu (not to mention cuts down on productivity due to the mounted
drive issue.)

Evince doesn't display most of the text in one PDF that I've downloaded.
Oddly, the column titles are displayed, but their contents are not. If I
select any, or all, of the text, I can read it. This doesn't happen on
I just created a new user and had the same problem. I, by default, had two
workspaces. When I set the appearance/compiz setting to "normal" they were
side-by-side taking up the top half of the workspace preview area. So yes,
it still seems to happen with a new user.

No, it doesn't continue. Should I file a bug with gnome? It seems confusing
that we should be allowed to select the rows in the preferences even though
it won't really work.

I just checked the emblems available in the two folders -- one that was
single-columned, one that was two-columned. There were no differences,
unless I missed one. And I didn't notice that the names were any
different in length.
