I can confirm this. I am booted into a no-daemon setup right now. Similar issues as Damiano details -- mounted drives don't appear, etc. I think it is a pretty serious bug, since it gives a bad impression of Ubuntu (not to mention cuts down on productivity due to the mounted drive issue.) This is

I just created a new user and had the same problem. I, by default, had two workspaces. When I set the appearance/compiz setting to "normal" they were side-by-side taking up the top half of the workspace preview area. So yes, it still seems to happen with a new user. -david On 10/2/07, Sebastien B
