I have received reports, and appears to be confirmation, that this bug
appears to be replicated in large mail folders. Small mail folders
appear to synchronise off-line successfully.

It's not working for me - using Ubuntu 9.10 Evolution 2.28.1 - have
automatically synchronise set to yes and tell to synchronise before
going offline but emails are still not available offline. Any thoughts?

I have updated to the latest Gnome-Desktop-Data package as suggested
above with no luck - CPU spike disappears after close however. What
information is required from me to assist diagnosis?
