Same issue here. Several OS X machines on the network.
Didn't have to kill the process to fix the load issue. Simply ejecting
the drive I was browsing helped.
However, should be able to keep the shared directory open without
suffering load issues.

I don't know if this may be helpful, but this issue appeared on my
machine after the last gnome-accessibility-themes package update.
Reverting back to the previous version fixed it.

Ok, i'll go to put the infos on bug #893676. I think is the same issue,
because seems that the crash happens when a notification of low toner
level is shown. And yes, I use a custom ppd for my Lexmark C530 printer
because with the one in ubuntu some settings are missing (for example,

Lars, I have fixed the ppd as you suggested, (the original charset of
the file was ISO8859-1).. now I have no errors checking for invalid
utf8, but after replacing the printer driver with the new ppd generated
by the iconv command, the bug is still present.

I suffer from this bug in a Karmic freshly installed. I edited the
/usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.devicekit.power.policy as

1. Open gstreamer-properties (alt+f2, enter gstreamer-properties)
2. Change to the video tab
3. Change the default output plugin to custom
4. Place the following command in the bottom box: videobalance hue=-1 !

Yeah, I thought so too.
Now I've tried with Valgrind, it seems it finds something interesting.

I think vino-session should be disabled, here's why:
1)
This happens because vino on Ubuntu (which was merged from debian)
is compiled with --enable-session. Without that flag, the process
responsible for start/stop the deamon is gnome-session.
So, there are two ways:
1) patch gnome-session

Hi, I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy on a i386 and I've just upgraded my
installation. Unfortunately, I still have this problem with xchat-gnome
1:0.18-0ubuntu2. When I try to run the program I get:

I can confirm this too, and the problem happens only with pdf files that use
Type 3 fonts (you can check which type of fonts your document is using by
pressing ALT+Enter in Evince).
