This also happens to me with a Dell Latitude D830. I upgraded to Jaunty and whenever the PC Speaker is supposed to play this very annoying sounds plays... nothing close to a normal pc speaker! I've tried "rmmod pcspkr" which makes the sound come less often but still every few minutes when I do "something wrong". Changing sound volumes does nothing to the sound.
If I reboot to the Intrepid kernel this problem goes away.
