I have just experienced this problem in a dist-upgrade from Hardy to
Intrepid.
The camera is iPhone gphoto2://[usb:008,002]/DCIM/100APPLE
Pressing Open F-spot Phot manager button in Nautilus gives error
alert:
Error connecting to camera
Received error could not lock the device while connecting
unsure what your question means.
If you meant is application/x-fribbity and official mime type: no
application/x-fribbity is an example, fake mime type for the purpose
of this bug report. The point is that javaws is supposed to register my
own mime type; it should modify local mime type
The title of the bug is Bug #173823 in sun-java6 (Ubuntu). I reported
a bug against sun-java6. I agree, sun-java6 / javaws should register the
mimetype according to the free desktp standard. THAT IS THE BUG.
Your comments seem to imply I reported a bug against gnome.

javaws does not register
Sebastien, can you take a moment to explain to me the process please?
You've marked the bug Invalid -- who is going to fix this bug?
You assigned it to Nautilus.
You've determined it's not a Nautilus bug. And it's not.
You've marked it invalid.
No more bug!
It is a bug in the Ubuntu/Linux
OK, I think I understand: the sun-java6 issue is still open and has
status=New, if I read this correctly.
