Same problem here in 8.10 too... Maybe gnome-screenshot should work as a daemon (or the code should be inserted in a system process like nautilus let's say) so pressing PrintScreen does not make the active window to lose focus... and then, the GUI could start... i think it's a bug, because it doesn't do what he has to... there are many more application who behave like this too, so don't blame Mines.
