I'm confirming this. gnome-panel suddenly froze, and if I run it on a
terminal it launches gnome-panel, then starts/stops for about 5 times,
then freezes again nor dissapears (not the same behavior all the time).
When called from console I get:
(gnome-panel:10379): Gtk-WARNING **:
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 213944 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213944
I launch gnome-panel and, while the 'flicking', I managed to delete the
clock applet from the upper panel, when done, the panel stopped flicking
and now it seems to work ok.
I thought it was the clock applet

I don't know how is this related to Bug #174088, but it may be.

Think I got it. Since it was breaking while playing the same files, and
I think g_str_hash() refers to string management, manually edited the
file's tag. After that, rhythmbox does not crash again, at least not
with those tag edited files, and at least not for the same g_str_hash()
issue.

Yep, it would be useful to get informed about that. It would be also
nice if it displays a message like CD won't play until copied to
library, or disable the play button.

It may be a hw detection issue. I had the same problem when using Hardy
Alpha 5, but not anymore with the recent updates of totem-gstreamer.
Please, give details on your hardware accordingly to

I'm getting the same SIGSEGV in g_str_hash(), playing songs from my
iPod, and found it happens with the same file over and over. The file
doesn't seem to be damaged, as long as it plays ok from the device and
is played ok if from Exaile.
It keeps crashing even if I remove the .gnome2/rhytmbox
