The patch seems to fix my problem as well (as reported in bug #367890).

After upgrading to Ubuntu 9.04, I experience even more problems with
evolution than in Ubuntu 8.10. The evolution-exchange-storage process
crashes (or locks up) almost everytime I try to connect to our Exchange
server. My experience is that this
I just downgraded rhythmbox to 0.11.6svn20081008-0ubuntu4 but still no
sound through USB.
It could be that I did get more patches at the time I upgraded so the
problem could be related to another package (see comment from
anisenfeld).

Found in Ubuntu 8.10, rhythmbox version 0.11.6svn20081008-0ubuntu4
(intrepid) with 0.11.6svn20081008-0ubuntu4.1 (intrepid-updates).
No audio is heard though my USB Audio interface (Creative Xmod) any
longer. This did work before the latest patc
