I know the bug status says Fix Released, but the problem is still
present on new installs of Ubuntu 14.04 (using a 14.04 image and
upgrading all packages, NOT installing from a 14.04.2 image).
Are there any plans to backport/fix this in the LTS release?

Chris,
Is there a previous version of libspectre1 from the trusty repository?
I've been running 14.04 on this machine, and feel like this is a recent
development.
I will mention that 13.10 did not have this issue either, so the
regression likely happened between the last version supplied to

issue, on a fully updated Lucid as of 2010-06-02 (June 2, 2010).
When printing PDFs from evince, the top and bottom print margins are
incorrect. The top one is shortened,

I can't print dvi files from evince in Lucid. PDF's print fine. When I
run evince from the command line, I get an error stating that it

This looks very similar to Bug #452057,

I'd like to confirm this bug in Karmic. Blurry dvi rendering in evince,
but PDF rendering is fine. dvi rendering in okular has a different
problem in okular, as the anti-aliasing isn't on for some reason. xdvi
seems to render the fonts sharply/correctly.

I just encountered this bug on Karmic, same symptoms as the OP (trying
to add channels, grey window, unresponsive, then crash).
I was running a lot of internet stuff at the time, so maybe xchat was
timing out and crashing?
