Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver
This bug may equally be an issue with the Nvidia GLX drivers or Xorg. When my laptop is configured with the following excerpt from xorg.conf, the gnome-screensaver unlock dialog does not appear. I haven't tested if the dialog box appears if a second monitor/projector is connected. Further symptoms include two screensavers seeming to run at the same time, sometimes one screensaver briefly appears over the top of the other. # Begin xorg.conf Section "Device" Identifier "NVIDIA Corporation NVIDIA Default Card" Driver "nvidia" BusID "PCI:1:0:0" Option "RenderAccel" "true" Option "Coolbits" "1" Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP,CRT" Option "TwinView" "1" Option "Metamodes" "1280x800,1280x800; 800x600,800x600; 1280x800,NULL" Option "UseEdidFreqs" "true" Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "30-96" Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "50-160" Option "TwinViewOrientation" "Clone" EndSection # End xorg.conf I have disabled the ConnectedMonitor Option and all below it as a workaround while I do not have a second monitor connected. ** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed -- Unlock screen is invisible with Nvidia twinview https://launchpad.net/bugs/45018 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
