I was just trying to provide some background to help track down the underlying problem. In any case, it doesn't seem possible to take a screenshot while having a menu shown. But just hit the View-menu and you should see what I'm talking about. There are two disabled entries: Normal Size and Stop.

Ok, I removed the dns line from /etc/network/interfaces (don't konw where I got it from...) and added the backup nameservers to /etc/resolv.conf. I hade som random issues when booting the computer, so the results aren't reliable, but now gaim worked directly. My nameserver is started by this
