Sometimes on first switch on after a shutdown the Notification Area
Applet icon is displayed as a 'Sound' icon for no apparent reason (see
screen shot). Lock Screen option won't correct problem, but a Restart or
a Log Out - Log In will correct

Further to previous... no problems with a clean re-install of xubuntu
8.04... Xubuntu update or clean install 8.10 same problems, even the
Terminal (Xubuntu 8.10) is effected.
