Thanks for your response.
The clock applet once and awhile froze my desktop (that is: the panel),
but I discovered a work around (killing the gnome panel in a terminal).
I think it has something to do with the contents of the clock applet
dropdown (locations or tasks or something. Maybe a
This same bug occured on my Ubuntu system (8.04). It was gone for a couple of

I think the attachment won't help much. Today I coincidentally changed
the monitor before I turned on the computer. But anyway, maybe it does

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: evolution
When I clicked on the Clock applet, the Gnome desktop froze when Evolution was
running.
Now I clicked it (the Clock applet) without Evolution, and then a dialog
appeared asking me if the application was allowed access to the Google Calendar
Another user can indeed open Googles Calendar without a problem on this Ubuntu
computer. Weird. I cannot.
What could be the cause of this problem then?

I started rhythmbox as a command in bash, and it neither showed up with
a window, nor crashed. No activity could be noticed. The system monitor
showed rhythmbox as a sleeping process.
After terminating the process with Ctrl+C, i inspected /var/crash, but there
was no rhythmbox file te be seen
Oh, after submitting the previous comment i noticed that each second
execution of rb ended up in one process. Both processes seem to merge.

So i decided to experiment a bit further. The following commands generated the
attached debug file.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ rhythmbox --debugrb_debug
And a second instance in a seperate shell:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ rhythmbox --debug
Hope this helps more than the previous postings. And thanks
