Unfortunately, Erez bugfix didn't help me out: true, the assertion fail was gone but nautilus still segfaulted elsewhere... Thus I restored the 'original' nautilus package via apt-get (which of course restored the assertion fail and didn't fix the problem).
But when logging on as different a user (which was previously created for testing reasons), nautilus worked just fine. Guessing the problem might have a configuration aspect, I removed all nautilus/gnome related settings files from my home folder. And finally the original ubuntu maintained nautilus works again. I have to admit that removing all config files is surely a brute-force solution but I don't know my way around in the configuration files. I guess that some file in the .local folder eventually caused the problem. -- eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/454234 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
