Okay, so first of all, you can call me a dunce if you like, but I don't
actually know what Lucid Lynx is? I am presuming it's the type of
program that would allow me to read PDF files? Don't know. I'm not
that much of a computer whiz. I'm using Ubuntu because Dad gave it to
me.

Whenever I open up a PDF file, it opens up with a view of 200% which is
too large but when I try to resize it, my computer just restarts.
Everything I had open is also shut down.
