Confirming what Michael said above ^
If I try to shut down my computer with either option, the dialog comes
up and gains focus. The only instance in which this does not occur for
me is when there is recent typing or mouse activity. I guess that I'd
prefer to have the dialog gain focus
I had made a quick debdiff to change the shortcut from CTRL+N to CTRL+T
for another bug report. You can decide whether to use it or you can go
a different route.
