Yes, I agree that it would be difficult to determine if all you are given is just a string. However, there must be some indicator in the email source that indicates that these are links (or that the author of the email specified them as links) since they are *displayed* as a link. It seems that clicking on the link sends the url through the gnome_url_show function where the verification is done. Perhaps there could be a way of telling gnome_url_show that it should not do a link verification check, just trust the application.
