I made a GUI in pyGtk that allows a couple of tweaks to be applied to
GDM2 including the disabling of the logon sound in a nice easy to use
manner. It may not be what you guys are after exactly but hey, at least

Happens to me as well. Sorry about chiming in with a me too but I can
only say that it is definitely compiz only (metacity is fine without
compositing) and this is a HP notebook with ATI Radeon graphics.

see if it gets any love upstream.
I don't think invalidating it here does much good when the same amount of
effort can be used to retarget the bug :(

It's a shame this didn't make it as a papercut as i used the sendto for
an ISO and figure it must be something people will bump into sooner
rather than later. Even if they just copy a music directory to a thumb
drive or something 20Mb

After submitting I reran DMESG and a few extra bits got thrown out

Action taken was:
1. Restore a deleted MP3 to the ~/Music directory (a stephen fry podcast).
2. Start rhythmbox and allow the software to pick up the addition.
3. Delete the aforementioned file (again)
4. Observe that the same thing as stated in original bug report happens.
