I was also having the same problem with an MFC-260C on Jaunty.
Fortunately I stumbled on this bug report.
sudo brprintconf_mfc260c -pt A4
also did it for me. I can finally see the top 2 or 3 cm of the PDF's I
print.

Hello, For me in the sound playback preferences only OSS works properly,
all the others fail (including auto-detect). However, once I killed
pulseaudio (with killall pulseaudio), both auto-detect and OSS work
(the others still don't work).

I can confirm the behavior reported by Ralf Nieuwenhuijsen.
Additionally, I can also confirm that the Windows key is treated as a
normal key when setting up the shortcuts through the keyboard shortcuts
application. Every time I try to set up a shortcut that uses the WinKey,
it is set as Super L,
