Indeed. Three lines of scroll is to less for me. This should be
configurable via anything - xorg or Gnome, but configurable. For now,
there is no way to change it.

Hey, try this:
edit file: /usr/lib/gedit-2/plugins/terminal.py
find all: term.fork_command()
replace with: term.fork_command("/bin/bash")
This will change the shell that is used in gedit terminal plugin to
bash. zsh does not work there.
