The same here with ATI Radeon 9200 PRO card and Nokia 446Xpro monitor. The display is even set perhaps to Liquid crystal mode when booting. The cursor disappears too. When corrected (difficult to resolve) by the menu: Screens and graphics, it forgets it in the next boot. -- [Hardy] Ubuntu does

This was corrected when i additionally set the: System-Preferences-Screen resolution to the same value. Still the log on screen remained the wrong type and my Mathematica program showed fonts as holes in paper and i had to use black background to see them. -- [Hardy] Ubuntu does not remember the
