After all these I rebooted my system and after loging in I saw what you can see
in the screenshot attached. When I try to open my home folder, there is a
little indicator on my palel (like a minimized window) where it says Opening
rodger but when

I have the same problem. I want to upload more information about my
system since it seems (as said before) to be a hardware specific
problem. What exactly will happen if I give 'apport-collect 444881' ?

I can confirm this. It seems like there is no access to the display
brightness information due to a lack of suitable driver. I believe it is
a hardware specific problem as there is no such problem on my
girlfriend's laptop (as I can remember right now). On my laptop there is
also an other instance
ext73 can you please try to put on your panel the 'Power Manager Brightness
Applet' and check if you can change the brightness using it?
