I believe gpointing-device-settings may allow you use both side-of-pad
and two-finger scrolling, but I can't test it.
Does anyone know if there are plans to integrate gpointing-device-
settings and gnome-mouse-properties?

I confirm this bug on my thinkpad T510.
A workaround is to change brightness in text-mode VT (ie. crtl+alt+f1, change
brightness, ctrl+alt+f7 to switch back to X.)
The lack of OSD is a new development since 26/02, I think it requires a
separate bug report.

g-p-m's brightness control doesn't
