I finally found a work-around on the net, using google (

the workspace switcher does not support viewports so only sees 1 virtual
desktop and thus you cannot name the compiz viewports.

window that is hidden rather than destroyed. The clock was fixed by
making destroyed windows get their shadow cleaned up properly, this one

The problem is some things use NoDisplay to be hidden initially but we
want the user to be able to enable them again. I wrote about this
problem on the xdg list back in May but there is no solution for this.

It seems that metacity now uses libcanberra so it works around the issue
but pulseaudio should be loading module-x11-bell for other WMs and for
things the WM can't control.

Actually it seems running that pactl command is not enough to make the
beep work with compiz anymore. Not sure what is going on there.
Also, I've left this bug open against compiz because compiz should use
libcanberra for this too.

Someone got this with a clean install of karmic? I still cannot
reproduce unless I manually disable the option. No matter how I make
compiz go back to default settings I always have a working shift-alt-
tab.
